Dave,
Thanks for the info. Regarding the current North Hero Off Island 20 ft Right of Way Zoning Regulation, this is a concern for many of us on Butler Island. Corliss Realty established many of these RoWs around the Island in the 1960s, only to have them sold off to adjoining land owners throughout the years. Because of their existence there are some deeds that refer to them and indicate some rights of access. This works fine for property owners who need an alternative beach to hit when the wind is blowing in an unfavorable direction. However, please try to imagine someone trying to use these 20' parcels of land, at this time, for interior development of the Island. These parcels are far too small to accommodate dock & boat storage and any volume of foot o motorized traffic. One can imagine the problems which will result if someone actually tries to use a 20' access for
interior development and recreation. Keeping people within those designated 20' will be very problematic.
Although we have not talked with everyone on the Island about this situation, everyone who we did speak with expressed concerns about the conflicts which will (for sure) develop if an attempt is made to use any of these 20 ft wide RoWs for development. It seems logical to many of us that for reasonable property use North Hero's Planning Commission could/should revise the Off Island RoW to match the 60 ft Row requirement the Mainland.
David, we don't ask much from North Hero and get even less. Record Keeping is the extent of our return for tax payments and we pay thousands of $ in taxes each year. It seems reasonable that if nothing else, North Hero has an obligation to listen to us. If it takes a public hearing to air this topic then please schedule it.
Respectfully,
David & Liza Bray

David, where did you get your information about the interior of Butler Island? We are talking about wildlife habitat and if the Commission would like to see what the interior looks like we should have a site tour. The maps we think you are using are not known for accuracy.

Barry,
At this time we do not see a change in the subdivision bylaws. We do however feel that in the case of Butler Island it will be much more difficult to actually develop areas because of the high degree of class II and associated wetland areas. ROW's wording for both on and offisland develpment is still under discussion, however the current process seems much more restrictive on island that the 20' wording for offisland. We are looking at this now.
Again, we have not made any final decisions and this information is only informitive at this time. We appreciate your patience and hope to get this wrapped up in the next 30 days.

Hi Dave,
What became of changes to Sec.240 para.D and the ROW provision to the interior being less restrictive than the mainland? Wasn't this something to fix?
Are any minimum lot sizes being built into the Bylaw?
Please advise us on these issues.
Thanks,
Barry Hickok
