RE: Ice Is Out!!

Think I'll stick to boating here, you don't need no stinking boots....................................and the only ice floats I see are in my glass!

Subject: Ice Is Out!!

Hi Fun Seekers,

As of 8 AM this morning, Thursday April 17th, you can boat to the Island.  However, if you were to depart from Maquam Shore you will have to maneuver around a few ice flows which were still floating north.  It appeared from my vantage point on Maquam Shore that all other directions are wide open.

Watch for submerged and floating logs, etc in your boating travels.  I did see some logs and other junk floating off shore.  Also be aware that if the wind were to switch to the north today or tomorrow there could still be some ice from the north end of Maquam Bay which may block your trip.

Cheers to the start of another great season on Butler Island.  Be safe and happy.
